Why We Hustle

Society has consistently told black people we can’t.
We can’t use the same bathrooms, we can’t sit in the front of the bus,
we can’t go to the same schools, we can’t be CEOs.
So we had to hustle. We hustle to keep the lights on,
we hustle to put food on the table, we hustle to get out the hood,
we hustle to gain access to a better education,
and we hustle to bring forth change in our communities.
The HUSTLE has various implications depending
on the situation—but it’s all the same.
We hustle & grind because we have to.
There is no option but to hustle in order for us to make it.
